Connections considering a tilt at The Breeders Cup

£200,000 is the figure Kennet Valley Syndicates have seen as a return on the 60,000 guineas purchase of Night In Vegas with wins at Ascot, Goodwood and, most recently, Tattersalls Somerville Auction Stakes at Newmarket last Saturday where a cool £170,000 was the prize.

Syndicate manager and RSA and ROA Committee member Sam Hoskins is plotting a potential trip to Kentucky in October for the colt trained by Eve Johnson Houghton although he is keeping an open mind.

RSA Committee Member Sam explained:

“The immediate plan is to go to Doncaster for the Weatherbys £300,000 2-Y-O Stakes on September 10 as long as the ground is decent enough. There are then some choice options with either the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy or the 7f  Tattersalls October Auction Stakes at Newmarket on October 3. There is of course the Champions Day Conditions race but I would have thought it would make sense to go to one of those races on October 3.”

“One other thing is that I wondered if he went six and a half furlongs at Donny and then went to the seven furlong sales race and saw it out well, I wonder whether it would be totally crazy to consider the Juvenile Turf at the Breeders’ Cup, although I haven’t discussed that with the trainer and I may get told off!”

“It may sound mad given it is so expensive to go, but he might have a good chest of prize money by then. The trainer might yet slap me down but he is a very cool customer and a mile around the bend could suit.”

With three wins, a fifth in the Coventry at Royal Ascot and third place in the Richmond Stakes at Glorious Goodwood – connections will no doubt be thrilled with this extremely shrewd purchase, and have had plenty to cheer about all Summer long.
