Hambleton Racing’s good start to the New Year continued at Newcastle on Thursday as Al Zaraqaan provided another big winner for their delighted owners.
The five-year-old’s success in the latest Fast-Track Qualifier booked his ticket for the All-Weather Championships Final Day back at Newcastle on Good Friday, where he’ll contest an event worth £200,000.
The impressive winner is likely to be joined by 25,000gns recruit Tempus at Newcastle on Good Friday, who secured his place for the prestigious meeting when winning the first Fast-Track Qualifier of the year, also at Newcastle.
Al Zaraqaan, a 45,000gns purchase from the horses in training sales in late October, is now unbeaten in all four of his all-weather starts and was a decisive winner under an impressed Danny Tudhope, making all the running to beat his race-fit rivals in pleasing style, making light of a notable headwind in the process.
The son of Golden Horn may well be set to take in some further valuable races ahead of Good Friday, with Listed and Group races at Lingfield and Kempton – two tracks where he has already tasted success – sure to come under consideration.
Commenting on the success, our director of racing Simon Turner said “We’re delighted to have won another Fast-Track Qualifier, this time with Al Zaraqaan. We made a plan with Archie to target these valuable all-weather races and it’s going very well so far. I’m delighted that another pair of our in-training recruits look set to give their owners the chance to race for excellent prize money in the coming months.”
Al Zaraqaan’s owners clearly have plenty to look forward to moving forward as Archie plots his journey towards All-Weather Championships Final Day on Good Friday. Another great example of a syndicated horse competing at a high level.
