Hot To Trot Racing has celebrated its 100th winner by planting beech trees on Mandown gallops. The tribute, unveiled on Saturday, 11th April, serves as a permanent reminder of the syndicate’s 100th victory achieved last July.
In a move supported by Jockey Club Estates, Syndicate Manager Sam Hoskins secured permission to plant a line of five copper and five green beech trees—representing one for every ten winners—alongside the historic turf gallops in Lambourn. Keeping the project within the “Hot To Trot family,” the trees were sourced from Trees Direct, owned by syndicate member, Richard Beamish.
A large contingent of members gathered on the Downs to observe the unveiling of the young trees and the placement of an inscribed commemorative plaque. Following the ceremony, the group celebrated the milestone with a hallmark Hot To Trot Racing champagne picnic overlooking the gallops where many of their winners have been trained.
Looking back on the syndicate’s journey since 2012, Sam Hoskins commented:
“Our syndicates offer the thrill of ownership, the pleasure of shared success, and precious memories on and off the course. We couldn’t have reached 100 winners without the loyal support of our members, breeders, and trainers. Thank you all—we now look forward to the next century!”
The planting project ensures that the success of the syndicate’s first 100 winners will be woven into the fabric of the racing landscape for generations to come, providing a natural landmark on one of the sport’s most famous training grounds.
