A brilliant RSA Race Day at Nottingham Racecourse on the 21st July and despite a pre-racing downpour, even the weather did its best to ensure that an enjoyable afternoon at the races was enjoyed by all. With RSA members, BG Racing, Value Racing Club, Solario Racing, Grange Park Racing, Crest Racing and Chase The Dream all engaging with racegoers in the syndicate village, there were options to sort all locations and budgets and it was great to see so many racegoers stopping to chat to one or more of the syndicate managers and their helpers.
The day started with RSA Committee members, Simon Double and Phil Boyle, joining racecourse announcer, Mike Vince, in the paddock for the “Punters Panel” to help racegoers find some winners. Thankfully both guys could hold their heads up high, with the winners of four races selected between them and several other placed horses tipped!
With RSA member syndicate runners in five of the six races the battle for the RSA Bonus was hotly contested. Grange Park Racing managed to finish 2nd in “their” race having sponsored one of the contests and there was another 2nd place later on the card for Kingsclere Racing Club. Both syndicates had to wait to see whether a later winner would usurp them, but they emerged unchallenged and shared the £2,000 bonus pool on offer should the best RSA finisher be a 2nd placed horse.
Alongside the racing, RSA race sponsors were interviewed in the paddock and Phil also made an appearance on Racing TV to extol the joys of shared ownership and the array of options available.
The RSA would like to thank the whole team at Nottingham who ensured that the whole day was a massive success and would especially wish to thank Samantha McNamara-White who put in a huge amount of work to prepare for the day and get everything in place to see it run smoothly. RSA syndicate owners were provided with additional badges and a syndicate hospitality area. The race day also saw the opening of the brand new syndicate lounge at Nottingham and this should be much appreciated by future syndicate runners at the course.
