We’re absolutely thrilled that our inaugural RSA sponsored race day went so well on ‘Fiver Friday’ 24th Feb.
Racegoers were treated to a bumper 7 race card with some absolutely thrilling racing – and only had to pay a fiver for the pleasure. What’s more, many of our dedicated members were present as exhibitors on the day, giving racegoers the opportunity to find out all about shared racehorse ownership.
Four races on the day were also sponsored and named by RSA Members including Grand National and Festival-winning Kim Bailey Racing, Oakman Racing Club who have some promising horses with top trainers Stuart Edmunds and William Knight, newly launched Rubicon Racing and lastly Hot To Trot Racing who have lately opened up a third syndicate for jump racers to complement their extremely successful two flat racing operations.
Our commitment to promoting syndication was underlined by the provision of an additional £3,000 bonus pot to be shared by any RSA member with a winner on the day. We weren’t disappointed as member Potwell Racing, based at the in-form Anthony Honeyball yard and represented by member Bob Butler (above, left) scooped the £3,000 prize for the win by Credo under Rex Dingle in the Charlie Wilson Memorial Mares’ Handicap Chase with the prize cheque presented by RSA Chairman Dan Abraham (above, right) – this capped off a great day for the yard who had an across the card treble on the day – with Potwell Racing’s prize money now boosted to well over £10,000
Special mention must goi to the team at Warwick racecourse, led by general manager Tommy Williams who saw to it that every detail, including a generous badge allowance and facilities for RSA members, was absolutely spot-on. Early feedback has been universally glowing and we are extremely grateful to them for making the day so special.
If this is the calibre of raceday we can expect then we can’t wait until our next one on July 21st at Nottingham!
