RSA Committee Member, Simon Double had a meeting today with his local MP, Gagan Mohindra who serves South West Hertfordshire to discuss the plight of Owners not being allowed to go back racing in sufficient numbers.
They met in the historic Berkhamsted Town Hall initially on Berkhamsted Chamber of Commerce business along with other members of the Chamber but the two had a private meeting specifically on racing and owners’ attendance.
“Mr Mohindran is more a of a cricket fan than horse racing but he very kindly gave me his time and seemed to get the importance of racing to the economy and the fact that if Owners cannot go racing soon in proper numbers, they will leave the sport which will have huge knock-on effects throughout the industry.
I handed him a personal letter and the excellent blueprint for the recovery of racing, produced by RSA Committee Member, Jon Hughes and major owner, Ged Shields.”
The Conservative MP, who serves on two of the most influential committees, the Public Accounts Committee and the backbench 1922 committee, said he would welcome a Zoom meeting with Simon when they will discuss the issue in more depth.
