Maystar provided a big win for Hambleton Racing on Friday, claiming Qatar’s biggest two-year-old race of the year, the Al Rayyan Stakes. Ridden by jockey of the moment Hollie Doyle, Maystar was always well placed and galloped on in great style up the straight to record a famous success for his owners. Having won a Fast-Track Qualifier well at Wolverhampton recently, Maystar arrived in Qatar in good form and trained well in the run up to the race. Excitement for owners was at fever pitch as Hollie and Maystar entered the stalls and the pair produced an effort to bring the house down. Hollie received a fine reception on the course as Maystar’s owners welcomed her and Maystar back off the track ahead of some memorable scenes in the winners’ enclosure.

There were evidently some great celebrations taking place around Britain too, as Maystar’s owners got in touch to say how they were celebrating the victory. Racing Manager Helen Kinsella, who accompanied owners at Doha, said ‘It’s an absolute delight to provide our owners with such a quality horse and special experience. This is what racehorse ownership is all about, our syndicate owners are living the dream out here.’

It’s now highly likely that Maystar will return to Doha in February for another big prize. Needless to say, his owners are tremendously excited at the prospect of both that and racing on Good Friday on All-Weather Championships Finals Day.
